Our executive team of advisors has been handpicked to handle any form of investigation. Each advisor contributes insight that extends our capabilities and enables our clients to resolve the most complex of problems. Through our combined experience, we boast many firsts. We put the first wire tap of a computer in the courtroom. We helped establish one of the first and largest computer forensics laboratories in the country. When the entire board of Tyson was indicted, we defended the first employee taken to trial by the Department of Justice—and won. We’ve done it for the government. Now, we do it for private practice.
Corporate Investigations
A national home builder was targeted by the Department of Justice for possible sub-prime lending abuses. The board of directors ordered a complete internal investigation to defend itself. Terabytes of electronic evidence were collected, analyzed and reviewed by our team of investigators and attorneys. The forensic analysis of the electronic evidence revealed that C-level executives were systematically destroying evidence critical to the company’s defense in a desperate effort to mislead the investigation. Information that was crucial to the company’s defense was restored, saving the client hundreds of thousands of dollars in investigative costs while giving the company the evidence it needed to defend itself.
Digital Discovery
YSA directed the collection, processing, review and production of over 5,000,000 documents in a 45-day timeframe as part of an SEC Second Request. Over 1 terabyte of data from across the country was collected in one week. Following the collection, the data was search-term filtered, de-duped and processed for hosting on a review application. Over 11,000,000 pages of documents were reviewed in a 30-day window. The review consisted of over 100 contract attorneys in two remote locations working around-the-clock. YSA worked closely with counsel to develop a review environment, a strategy for the review and the ultimate production of the relevant documents. In addition, the YSA team developed protocols for monitoring the effectiveness of each individual reviewer. The review and production met all SEC-imposed deadlines without penalty.
Business Intelligence
An international corporation identified a misappropriation of funds by a business partner. YSA was engaged to conduct a comprehensive Business Intelligence investigation project to identify process breakdowns, forensically trace funds, collect key evidence, support litigation efforts and support recommendations for business improvements. YSA assisted in the civil and criminal prosecution of the business partner.
